This series has been on my TBR for some time and I am kicking myself for not getting to it sooner! Having been born and raised most of my life in CT I am very familiar with Boston…and a huge sucker for an Irish accent! This book grabbed ahold of me and wouldn’t let go!
Lizzie O’Malley is a young woman who parties hard and has a tendency to run away from things when they become uncomfortable or too serious. After breaking up with her boyfriend she returns home to get on track and make something of herself…but the party girl in her has other plans. Meeting and getting swept up in her attraction to Teagan sends her life on a rollercoaster ride you won’t forget. I absolutely love Lizzie and can relate so much to her character. Stubborn, free-willed, and full of energy she had me laughing one minute and ready to slap her the next minute. She is constantly at war with herself, yet puts on a front to everyone around her.
Teagan Gallagher is a college student from Ireland in Boston on a work study program. Attractive, dominant, and irresistible he makes it clear to Lizzie he is only here for the summer and will not be returning once he goes back to Ireland. However, he is desperate to spend every moment of his summer with her. I absolutely fell in love with Teagan *sigh* from the start. He was sweet, romantic, and fun. Unfortunately, by the end of the book I completely loathed him…but you will have to read it to find out why!
This book is very descriptive and well-written. I loved every single character in the book in their own way and could completely see myself hanging out with them in a Boston pub! With the cursing, continuous intake of alcohol, and sex I would not recommend it for those who are easily offended or under 18…anyone else, go one-click that bit*h!

This book is the first in the chosen series. This is a story about Lizzie finding herself and learning how love can change you. Lizzie just moved back to Boston after living in Oregon for 5 years after high school, looking for a fresh start. Meeting Teagan was a breath of fresh air, he wasn't Lizzie's typical type, but there was an instant spark. Teagan and his group of friends were on a work study from Ireland, and only here for the summer. They had a connection mentally and physically from the moment Lizzie looked into his blue eyes. Once they established the boundaries or their summer fling, they were pretty much inseparable. But Lizzie being who she was alway was ready to run at the first sign of trouble. As the time flew by Lizzie began to realize that she had fallen in love with Teagan and knew that he cared for her too, but wondered if there was any chance it could be more.
For the most part this book is a sweet romance, but the closer to the end of the book you get the more this book pulls at your heart. Lizzie realizes that she needs to do something quickly to try to protect her heart from the damage that would happen if/ when Teagan leaves for Ireland. Does he stay? Does he take her? Do then end things? This book does answer most questions and doesn't have any major cliffhanger, but it does lead you to the next book. This is the first book I read from Alisa Mullen, I have had it a while and should have read it sooner. She writes a good story and it is worth looking into

All of us have had relationships that we have invested time and emotions in only to have them fall apart and leave us battered and bruised trying to find a way to pick up the pieces and move on with our lives. Brooklyn and Damon have been together for years. Brooklyn encouraged Damon to take an internship in another state and believed in him when he told her they would make things work. As relationships go things did not work out. Brooklyn moves to another state for a fresh start and more promising job opportunities she is lucky enough to have her best friend with her every step of the way. As far as besties go you couldn’t ask for a better friend than Alex. It has been years since Damon and Brooklyn split and Alex tries to encourage her to get back on the dating horse. Brooklyn is reluctant to put her heart out there again or at least what is left of it. On the way to work one day she meets Logan. She has no clue who he is at first only knows that for the first time in a long time she is attracted to someone and that scares her. Logan is not letting her get away that easily though he is determined to give them a shot no matter what it takes. Logan woos Brooklyn and she starts to fall for him little by little. She confides in Logan about her past hurts and he slowly opens up to her about his demons as well. As is inevitable they have their stumbling blocks. Just when Brooklyn starts to get comfortable in her relationship with Logan she hears something that has the potential to destroy her all over again. Can she really trust Logan with her heart? Can Logan break through her stubbornness and show Brooklyn that she can trust him with her heart? Is Brooklyn doomed to have what little remains of her heart shattered?
I started this book awhile ago and stopped not realizing the amazing story I was missing out on. Lizzie is a girl a lot of women can relate to and Teagan is quite the charmer. Their summer fling will leave you cheering for them til flu season hits and it all just goes down from there. I took a HEA from it but not what you'd expect. This is a relatable story because IT'S BASED ON TRUE EVENTS! It makes it that much harder to grasp. So glad I picked this book back up and cannot wait for the next book.
First let me say I've never cried so much reading a book and second let me say that I love this book another story I love Lizzie loved then hated Teagan because he was such a jerk and now I'm getting ready to read the second book.
I enjoyed the superficial pseudo-loving relationship between Lizzie and Teagan but then he absolutely broke her heart and I wish she kicked him in the privates after he hurt her!
I think it will all turn out alright and I'm about to read the second then third book and see if Lizzie ends up with her happily ever after and a good man to love her.
I think anyone who love contemporary romance will love this book I sure did and I give it 20 stars 20 hot flames and at least 15 tearjerker sad faces!
